Orr Defeats Farragut

By Todd Thomas

Orr avenged a regular season loss to Farragut with a 54-43 win in the second round of the city playoffs.

Farragut forward Rashaun Stimage got the Admirals off to a fast start scoring six points and recording three blocks in the first quarter. The game was tied 14-14 after the first period.

The Admirals kept the pressure on Orr and after several steals and a few three- pointers they enjoyed their biggest lead of the game 23-16 midway through the second quarter.

Orr regrouped quickly  and by the end of the first half had trimmed the Farragut lead to 27-24.

The second half was all Spartans as Farragut lost composure and Orr found the range from outside, hitting four 3-pointers.

The Spartans moved steadily ahead in the fourth, with the key play being a four-point play where Farragut guard Lavell Boyd fouled Orr's Deshawn King as he drilled a three-point shot.

Farragut had chances to keep the game even, but went cold from the foul line - missing all ten of it's fourth-quarter attempts.

Orr moves on to the quarterfinals at Chicago State on Sunday.

Key players of the game:

Farragut - Rashaun Stimage 13 points, 11 blocks. John Carter 13 points, three 3-pointers.

Orr - Deshawn King 13 points, four 3-pointers. DeVante Jones 13 points, three 3-pointers.
